Choosing the Best Elbow Brace

An elbow brace can be an effective treatment for a range of conditions like tennis or golfer’s elbow, while also preventing further harm to the joint during use. When choosing the best elbow brace for your needs be sure to consider all the most important factors including material, type, sizing, support level, and recommendations tailored to your needs.

Elbow Braces We Offer

What to Consider When Choosing An Elbow Brace

Material

  • Neoprene

Neoprene is the industry standard for elbow braces, as it offers durability, breathability, superior moisture absorption, and resistance to stretching. It can be found in our Elbow Brace and Tennis Elbow Straps.
  • Spandex

Spandex allows for a snug yet flexible fit that adapts to natural movement. It provides gentle compression, which helps improve blood circulation and reduce muscle fatigue while maintaining comfort. Additionally, spandex is lightweight, breathable, and moisture-wicking, keeping the skin dry during extended wear.

  • Nylon

Whether mesh or solid material, nylon helps to aid in temperature regulation. It stays flexible around the joint and allows airflow to prevent overheating while worn. You’ll find nylon through a few of our braces including the Elbow Brace, Stabilizing Elbow Brace, and Compression Sleeves.

  • Silicone Lining

Silicone lining is used in our Tennis Elbow Straps to prevent slipping during intense activity. It grips securely to the skin without causing discomfort, making it a perfect choice for athletes seeking extra joint support.

  • Blended Materials

Many of our braces feature a carefully crafted blend of the abovementioned materials. This combination maximizes the unique benefits of each, ensuring a brace that is both exceptionally comfortable and highly reliable.

Type

  • Hyperextension

A hyperextension-type elbow brace is designed to prevent excessive extension of the elbow joint, which can lead to injury or strain. It provides stability by limiting the range of motion, reducing the risk of ligament damage, and promoting proper joint alignment. Commonly used for injury prevention, post-injury recovery, and support during high-impact activities. If this sounds like what you need, check out our Elbow Brace here.

  • Immobilizer

An immobilizer elbow brace is a support designed to restrict movement of the elbow joint, aiding in recovery from injuries such as fractures, dislocations, or post-surgical healing. The Vive Stabilizing Elbow Brace and ROM Elbow Brace keep the arm in a fixed position to prevent further strain or damage, promoting proper healing. Made with rigid supports, adjustable straps, and cushioned materials, these immobilizer elbow braces are commonly used in medical treatments where controlled positioning is essential for recovery.

  • Strap

A strap elbow brace is a lightweight, minimally designed support that applies targeted compression to the elbow joint. This type of brace is commonly used for conditions like tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow, as it helps alleviate pressure on the tendons and muscles. Iit wraps around the forearm just below the elbow joint, providing support without restricting movement.

  • Compression

A compression-style brace is a flexible support that provides gentle, consistent pressure around the elbow joint. It helps improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain from conditions like tendonitis, arthritis, or muscle strain. The Compression Elbow Sleeve is made from stretchy, breathable material that offers a snug yet comfortable fit without restricting movement.

For recovery try the Hot and Cold Therapy Sleeve or Elbow Ice Wrap which offer compression along with your choice of heat or cold therapy.

Sizing

When selecting an elbow brace, be sure to check the available sizing options. Some braces are designed as one-size-fits-most, while others come in multiple sizes with a corresponding sizing guide to ensure the perfect fit. Support Level

  • Mild

A mild support brace is the right choice if you’re looking for relief from minor aches and pains, or want to prioritize compression. Our Compression Arm Sleeves offer mild support.

  • Moderate

Moderate support braces are a versatile option that can be effective in later stages of recovery, or provide support during athletic activity. The Tennis Elbow Straps and Elbow Brace both offer firm and flexible moderate support.

  • Maximum

You’ll find maximum support braces feature multiple Velcro straps, sometimes hinges, and additional padding that secure the brace firmly to the arm. These are a good choice for the more serious conditions, injuries, and pre or post-surgery. Consider our ROM Elbow Brace, Stabilizing Elbow Brace, and Elbow Brace if you’re looking for this level of support.

Frequently Asked Questions

See some of the most common elbow brace questions here.

How Tight Should An Elbow Brace Be?

For our adjustable elbow braces, be sure to use the two finger rule to get a perfect fit. Once the brace is attached, try to slide the tips of your fingers between the brace and your arm. If you can fit three or more, the brace is too loose. If you can only fit one, the brace is too tight. A two-finger-fit ensures proper support and circulation while wearing your brace.

Can I Wear An Elbow Brace To Bed?

Our adjustable elbow braces are not made to be worn while sleeping, as this can leave you with soreness in the morning. If you are looking for symptom relief at night, try our Elbow Compression Sleeve, which offers more mild support.

How Do I Know If I Need An Elbow Brace?

If you have experienced long-term elbow pain on a consistent basis, it may be time to talk to your doctor about finding an elbow brace. However, keep in mind that braces are also a good preventative tool, allowing athletes and fitness enthusiasts to protect their elbows while enjoying their favorite activities.
